WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Today the Major League Soccer Players Association (MLSPA) released the 2021 Salary Guide. The Salary Guide is released by the MLSPA to provide transparency into player compensation for both players, agents and fans. The spring release contains 2021 Annual Base Salary and 2021 Annual Guaranteed Compensation data for the 786 players under contract with Major League Soccer. All data is as of April 15, 2021.
This year’s release shows continued growth in player salaries over past years and is the first salary release since the new Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) went into effect in February 2020. A League-wide analysis of the 2021 salary data shows salaries for players in roster spots four through 18 grew on average more than 10% per year over the last five years. The Average Base Salary for Senior Roster Non-Designated Players in MLS is $398,725 in 2021, more than doubling over the last five years and marking the tenth consecutive year of growth.
