You are entitled to see a doctor of your choice (in the US or Canada) for a second opinion on your injury, diagnosis, or course of treatment. For help facilitating this process, contact the MLSPA’s Medical Director, Dr. Sidney Hinds at shinds@mlsplayers.org.

If you sustain an injury while playing in the MLS, you may be entitled to compensation/benefits under workers compensation law. Email legal@mlsplayers.org to begin your claim process.

We have partnered with Onrise Care to provide high quality mental health support and resources for all former MLS players. Onrise’s approach to mental health connects former professional athletes with player care specialists who have been trained in Mental Health First Aid, and in most cases are former professional athletes themselves. In addition to these specialists, former players will also have access to licensed therapists and psychiatrists. The level of care and treatment will be specific to individualized needs.

Based on Onrise's model, for former players who are interested there may also be an opportunity to become involved as an Athlete Mental Health Specialist.
