Washington, D.C. -- The Major League Soccer Players Association (MLSPA) today announced that three players have been elected to serve on its Executive Board. The Executive Board is the decision and policy-making body of the Players Association with its members serving as the highest level of PA leadership.
MLSPA Player Representatives voted to elect Eduard Atuesta (Orlando City SC) and Jack Maher (Nashville SC) to fill the two positions left vacant by Mark-Anthony Kaye and Paxton Pomykal. Matt Freese (New York City FC) was also re-elected. Together they join the six returning members to make up the PA’s nine-member Executive Board.
“It’s a great honor to be elected to the Executive Board and to have the opportunity to represent the players in a more direct way. I see it as a chance to be more deeply involved in the conversations that matter to us as players and to help make sure our perspective is heard," said Atuesta on his election."There are a lot of important things ahead for MLS and for the Player Pool, especially as we approach the next bargaining agreement. With that in mind, I’m looking forward to working with the other members of the Board, listening to my teammates, and doing my part to make sure the voice of the full Player Pool is heard and represented to the best of my ability.”
"It’s an incredible honor to have been elected to the Executive Board. I’m joining an amazing group of guys who are highly motivated to help raise the standards for all players. As the league grows in value, it’s imperative that we grow with it to help the next player be in a better position than we are today." Jack Maher said on his election to board.
