Alex Bono and Matt Freese elected, Ethan Finlay, Clint Irwin and JT Marcinkowski re-elected to MLSPA leadership
Washington, D.C. -- The Major League Soccer Players Association (MLSPA) today announced that five players have been elected to serve on its Executive Board. The Executive Board is the decision and policy-making body of the Players Association with its members serving as the highest level of PA leadership.
MLSPA Player Representatives voted to elect Alex Bono (DC United) and Matt Freese (New York City FC) to fill the two positions left vacant by Uri Rosell and Victor Ulloa. Ethan Finlay (Austin FC), Clint Irwin (Minnesota United FC), and JT Marcinkowski (San Jose Earthquakes) were also re-elected. Together they join the four returning members to make up the PA’s nine-member Executive Board.
“It’s an absolute honor to have been voted on to the Executive Board and have the privilege of serving the Player Pool in a deeper way,” said Alex Bono on his election. “During this term, I plan to uphold the high standards our players expect of the modern MLS and work with my peers to establish the key issues we face en route to our next bargaining agreement.”
“It's a huge honor to have been elected to the Executive Board of the MLSPA,” said Matt Freese. “The league is undergoing impressive growth in terms of top-line dollars, visibility, and market share - and it's important to have the players' experiences reflect the level of competition that has catalyzed this growth. Representing my teammates and brothers across the entire league is a massive honor and a responsibility I don't take lightly.”
